Meet Rachelle Powell
Wife, Jesus Follower, Homeschool Mom, Cattle Farmer, and Coffee Lover.
Welcome to Chalkboards and Chicken Coops! If you’ve been around for a while, you know that my passion for authentic, scratch-made homestead living runs deep. This is still 100% true! But even while this is my truth, my mission has grown.
I used to think the goal of homesteading was independence. Today, I know the real goal is interdependence; learning how to live rooted in faith and poured out for the people around us.
Life on the Farm
Located in the heart of our local Amish community, our cattle farm reminds us daily: the value of hard manual labor, how all life matters, and the beauty of a slower paced lifestyle.
Food from Scratch
The kitchen is the heartbeat of our home. I believe that nourishing our families with clean, real food is a form of stewardship, and opening our table to neighbors and friends is a form of ministry.
Faith in Action
Through my journey as a Christ follower, my ultimate passion is intentional discipleship and loving people well. This blog is not just a how-to guide for farm life; it’s also a space dedicated to showing how a simple, homestead lifestyle can create the space and hospitality needed to build deep, life-changing relationships.
I am so incredibly glad you are here. Let’s sow deep roots together.
