Do you ever just look around and feel really really content? With your “stuff”? What you’ve accomplished for the day? Your family and your home and your cooking and your homeschooling and your parenting … just all of it? I found myself here today. I sat down, after having an amazing meal, curled up on the couch with my favorite crocheted blanket that my oldest made me when I found out I had cancer again, and just looked around and thought “Yeah! This is what it’s about. This is the meaning of life.” Just grateful to God our Father, and content with what He’s given me.
Now, do not for even one second think that this has always been the case, or that I just must have it easy… no no no! Years of bipolar, cancer, alcoholism, superiority, parenting struggles, fights, fighting with my mind, fighting with my kids… feeling like a failure.. .the list goes on and on. We are all the same, we all have our struggles. And just 2 days ago, I was posting in my online homeschool community asking if I was doing it right LOL. BUT TONIGHT! TONIGHT, it was all contentment and gratitude.
If you’re someone who struggles with gratitude, I encourage you to write 10 positive things every day. Do it for a month. It will change your life. Even better, find a friend that you ONLY tell the positive parts of your day. Do that for a month and it will change the way you look at the world.
